RESIDENTIAL TREATMENT

Residential Treatment for Alcohol and Drug Abuse Dependency is available through the Yurok Tribe by referral through the Yurok Tribe Wellness Court. The Yurok Tribal Court has contracted with Friendship House in San Francisco to provide residential treatment for Yurok Tribal Members who meet the requirements of this program.  This is a three year grant funded program through the federal government's OJJDP programs.
  • Persons wishing to seek treatment for alcohol and drug abuse issues that have impacted their lives, need to petition the Yurok Tribal Court for services.

  • This is a voluntary program and persons access treatment through the Yurok Tribal Court with a Petition for Services.  Individuals are submitting to the jurisdiction of the Yurok Tribal Court.

  • The Wellness Program performs an intake of the person requesting services, then through a UIHS or other provider has an assessment done of the Tribal Member for referral to the Friendship House.

  • An Intake is done over the phone by Friendship House and if the person is able to be helped through the program, the Tribal Member is transported down to Friendship House in San Francisco for a period anywhere from 90 days to one year depending on the individual's problem and response to treatment.  Monthly reports are received from Friendship House monitoring the progress of individuals referred by the Yurok Wellness Program.

  • Individuals may participate in pre-care and after-care through the Yurok Tribe Wellness Program.  The program assists individuals in transitional housing, employment, cultural and language skills, transportation and monitoring of their recovery.

  • Residential Treatment may last anywhere from 30 days to one year, depending on the individual's assessment of his recovery path.

  • After Care Treatment  may consist of Transitional Housing,  group meetings addressing substance abuse issues, counseling, obtaining GED/high school diploma, vocational training and employment.
